Jožica, 53 let, se je vedno počutila utrujeno in je na stalni črti pridobivala na telesni teži vse od svojih 40-ih let naprej. Ko je pred dvema mesecema prvič prišla na pregled, mi je povedala, da ji je zdravnik postavil diagnozo visoke ravni krvnega sladkorja. To je zanjo pomenilo, da bi sledila stopinjam svoje matere in se doživljenjsko zavezala zdravilom. Njena telesna teža je bila prekomerna. Vsak dan je bila njena pot do službe dolga, kar je za posledico prineslo manj časa za telovadbo. Njena služba je bila prav tako stresna in doma je morala poskrbeti še za dva otroka. Od doma odide zgodaj in pride nazaj pozno. Jožica se je zavedala, da je počela ravno napačne stvari. Njena utrujenost je pogosto pomenila poseganje po sladkarijah ali čokoladnih ploščicah, da bi lahko na delu zdržala tudi popoldne. Vendar je preveč zaposlena, da bi prenehala s slabimi navadami. Health is a care of the person, not the disease
Jožica, 53, always felt tired and had been putting on weight steadily since her early 40s. When she first came to see me two months ago, her doctor had told her that her blood sugar levels were too high. Jožica was now about to follow in the footsteps of her mother and commence a lifetime of medication. She was overweight. She had a long commute to work every day, leaving little time for exercise. Her job is stressful and she has 2 children to take care at home. She arrives early and leaves late. She has a lot of issues and low immunity, Jožica knows she is doing all the wrong things. My treatment for cases like this always start with expectation management. Many people come to TCM only because they want to “do something”. They know that something is not good and they are so eager to turns things right again. This is a dangerous idea. Remember, no one can find a way out unless they know clearly where they are. The good news is, usually for case like Jožica, with a period of three to six months, their body slowly shows good changes like better digestion and deeper sleeps. It takes much longer time to deeply renovate and rebuild your system. However, the effect of bringing your life back, enjoying time with your kids and family, taking you to a higher level at work or simply finding a way of inner peace will make the whole process worth it.
